Do You Need a LASIK Consultation?

Do You Need a LASIK Consultation?

If you have any thoughts about using vision correction surgery to improve your nearsightedness or farsightedness, you will benefit from having a consultation with an optometrist. At Knight Vision in Silverdale's Kitsap Mall, we provide pre-surgery consultations to see if you would be a good candidate for LASIK.

What Happens at a LASIK Consultation

When you meet with our eye doctor to discuss LASIK, you will find out if LASIK is the right choice for your eyes. You will also talk about the risks and benefits of LASIK surgery and the process required. Use this meeting to ask our eye doctor any questions you have about the procedure or your responsibilities.

What to Do Before a Consultation with an Optometrist

Before you meet with our doctor of optometry, you should stop wearing your contact lenses and switch to only glasses. Contacts change the shape of your eye, and if you do not allow your eyes to return to their natural shape, our eye doctor may not make the right recommendation for you.

How long before your consultation that you need to stop wearing your contacts depends on the type you wear. Stop wearing hard contacts a month before your visit, but if you wear soft lenses, you can wait until two weeks before your appointment. Rigid gas permeable lenses fall between soft and hard contacts, and you must allow at least three weeks for your eyes to adjust.

Start Your LASIK Journey

If you have nearsightedness or farsightedness and have ever thought about LASIK surgery, it's time to make an appointment with us at Knight Vision. We will discuss the process with you to see how you may benefit from the procedure. You won't be able to get LASIK without a consultation with a doctor of optometry.
